Step 1 of 3: Install HomeBuilder from Microsoft AppSource
Installing HomeBuilder Step 1 of 3 - AppSource and Subscribe
This is the first step in a three-stage process to get HomeBuilder installed and ready for setup in Microsoft Business Central. The next two steps are shown at the bottom of this page.
How to Install the HomeBuilder App
- If you clicked on this link from within BC HomeBuilder, then you already have the HomeBuilder App installed from Microsoft AppSource. All you need to do now is activate the license.
- If you received a link to this web page and need to install the App, then follow these instructions:
- Open Microsoft Dynamics BC and search for "AppSource". Choose "Extension Marketplace" from the list.

NOTE:
- You have to install all Products listed under Stages 1 and 2
- Install products under Stages 3-5 only if you need them. However, products listed in Stage 3 (if you need any) should be installed before those in Stage 4.
- Select "Free Trial" and allow the installation to automatically happen - typically, a few minutes.
How to Subscribe to HomeBuilder or Retainage
This section shows the creation of the subscription for the first product. The order in which you subscribe does not matter ("Retainage Payables" or "HomeBuilder").
If you are not planning to use "Retainage Payables", your first and only product to subscribe to will be "HomeBuilder Base". You can always subscribe to "Retainage Payables" later.
- First, check your current license status.
- Enter “Suite Engine Subscriptions” into the search (magnifying glass) top right of Business Central. This page shows:
- your customer information on the header (top).
- the products you have installed.
- and the status of the license against each one.
- If you do not see a Customer ID and have not previously created one, then click on the buttons – More Options (only if visible) – Actions – Create Stripe Customer and follow the instructions.
- Once you have a Customer ID then move to the Lines on My Products Section of the page, click on the Line you want to Subscribe to ("Retainage Payables" or "HomeBuilder") and then Click on the Button Start Subscription to start your Free Trial Subscription.
- Select the Product that you want, Click on Next, and continue to click through the screens reviewing the details as you go.
Setup a Payment Method
- Once your trial is up, your Payment Method will be automatically charged, and your subscription status will change to "Active".
- All software billing is done through stripe.com and you typically have the choice of ACH or Credit Card (depending on your location).
- From the "Suite Engine Subscriptions" Page click on the button "Go to Payment Portal" and follow the instructions.
WARNING:
Be aware that, as you progress through setting up your payment method (in Page Customer Details), you MAY NOT change the currency for that customer later. If you need to change currency, press "Back" and choose another plan (different currency).
Licensing
- Step 2 - License the system in HomeBuilder License Management to set up licensing.
- Step 3 - (final) that you will need to perform is to set up Functional Permissions and Roles to complete your access to the system and begin setup.
