CSM Administration - How do I update my CSM applications?
To update an extension in Business Central, follow these steps using the Admin Center.
- If you are currently logged into Business Central, you will see that your website address looks something like this:
https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/test12345/Demo?company=Test
- Access the Admin Center by replacing the text after your Tenant ID (in the above example, it is "test12345" with "admin" - so then your website address will resemble:
https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/[tenant_id]/admin
- Choose the environment where you want to update the extension
Note: We recommend installing new updates in a sandbox environment for testing before updating your production environment.
- Select the Apps button to view all installed extensions
- Find the extension requiring an update
- Select Install update or Update app to update the extension
- You can refresh the Manage apps screen to check on the update status
- The message will show Update is Scheduled or Updating... until the process is complete
Caution:
- Test in Sandbox first:
- Always update extensions in a Sandbox environment before rolling them out to Production.
- Review Release Notes:
- Release notes should be fully reviewed as part of your testing process, as they may include information on new setup and configuration requirements. Release notes can be accessed here.
- Communicate with affected users:
- Notify your team of any potential changes or downtime during the update process. Users should be logged out of Business Central prior to installation of the release; if this is not possible, please advise your users that it may be necessary to refresh or log out/log in to Business Central in order to continue working with the application.
