Specifications
Adding Specifications
- Search for and select RPM Specifications. This setup table is where all specifications are created and managed.
The RPM Specifications page can also be accessed from the RPM Subcategory List or Card. From the Card or List, select Home in the ribbon, then Setup Specifications.
2. For each specification, fill out columns on the RPM Specifications page.
Code: The unique identifier of the specification.
Name: Description of the specification.
Code Caption: The caption to display when the field is shown in a list.
Filter Caption: The caption to display when the field is used in a filter.
Type: Text, Decimal, Integer, Date.
Maximum Decimals Allowed
Blocked: Determines if a specification can or cannot be used.
Subcat List Specification No.: Specifies the order of the specifications on the RPM Subcategory or Unit List. This field will allow you to determine which specifications are visible on the Subcategory and Unit lists.
Values Not Required: Leave this blank to choose from a dropdown. Check the box to allow typing a value directly.
Exclude From Printed Documents: Select this option to exclude the specification from printing on documents.
Update Subcategories using the Update Subcat Specifications function.
- From the RPM Specifications table, Select the Specification to Update from the drop-down list.
- Select the options you want to copy, like the above options. Values not required, Copy Subcat. Spec. Values. . .
- Use Filters to determine which subcategories to update or leave the No. field blank to update all subcategories
Adding and Managing Specifications for a Subcategory
- Manage the Specifications and Specification Values from the RPM Subcategory List or Card.
- From the RPM Subcategory List or Card, select Homein the ribbon, then select Setup Subcat. Specifications.
- Using the dropdown on the Specification Codecolumn, choose the specifications to add to the subcategory.
- The Specification No. is the order the specifications will show on the Subcategory card. To leave a specification on the list but hide it on the Subcategory, make the Specification No. “0”.
*Note if there are subcategories or units using a specification with a value on the card you will not be able to hide a specification (ex. you want to hide a COLOR specification by making the Specification No. “0”, but one of your units has BLUE input on the unit card as a value). You will have to manually remove all specification values to turn the Specification No. to “0”.
Add Values for Specifications
- On the Setup Subcat. Specifications page, select the specification, then select Specification Values from the ribbon.
- Add the CODE and Name for the values.
These values are added to the dropdown list for the specification on the subcategory or Unit.
Specifications on Units
Specifications on a subcategory card will default to any new units created for the subcategory.
Users can select different specifications like colors, years, manufacturers, etc. for each Unit. However, the specification you must be setup on the Subcategory.
When changing a specification value on the subcategory card, a dialogue will pop up asking, “Do you want to update the *insert Specification Code* to *Value* on every related RPM Unit?” If all units have the same values, select “Yes”. If all units have different specification values, select “No” and enter specification manually.
