CSM Listings - Creating and Managing
A CSM listing links a Business Central record (item, item variant, G/L account, resource or item charge) to a product on your sales channel and holds the product content CSM sends to that channel.
This applies to Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Magento:
Item Information Sent to the Channel
Depending on the platform, CSM can send: Item No., Type, SKU, regular and special prices, weight, dimensions, cost, GTIN, inventory-tracking flag, primary category and item category, catalog visibility, tax class, extended text (short description), item identifiers and images.
Creating Listings
Channel-level defaults (listing template, SKU method, description sources, product status, attribute set behavior) are applied automatically – see CSM Sales Channels - Listing Management.
Listing Wizard (one listing)
- Open the CSM sales channel and choose Listing > Wizard.
- Enter the Business Central item, plus a variant or unit of measure if needed.
- Enter a Sales Channel SKU and choose Finish.
From BC Items (many listings)
- Open the sales channel and choose Related > Listing > Channel Listings.
- Choose Actions > Create Listing > From BC Items.
- Set Listing Unit of Measure and the SKU Number method, apply item filters if needed, then confirm.
From the Item Card
- Open the item and expand the Auto Create CSM Listings FastTab.
- Enter the Sales Channel Code and, if not auto-filled, the Channel Item SKU.
- Set Auto Creation Status to Ready and choose Create CSM Listings.
Note: Listing creation can also run on a schedule with the AUTOCREATELISTINGS automation – see CSM Administration - Automations and Job Queues.

Descriptions
- Short Description – on the Listing FastTab, or sourced from the item's Extended Text.
- Long Description – a Product Information record. BigCommerce requires it before the listing can be sent.
To add a long HTML description: choose Add Description, enter Long Description in Tags, paste HTML into Description Raw HTML and check the Description HTML Preview FastTab.
Additional Categories
Choose Add Additional Category, set Information Type to Category, enter a Caption, set Source Type to CSM Channel Category, then select the channel and category.
This applies to BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Magento: additional categories are sent with All Data or Categories (see CSM Listing - Sending and Retrieving Listing Data). Not available for Shopify.
Other FastTabs
- Attribute List – attribute lines from the assigned set. See CSM Listing - Attributes and Attribute Sets.
- Availability / Inventory Information – see CSM Listing - Inventory Availability.
- Listing Children – child listings of a configurable parent. See CSM Listing - Configurable Item Listings.
- Listing Status – informational. External ID is the product's ID on the channel; Last External Update Result shows the outcome (including errors) of the last send.
Listing Synchronization History
CSM records an entry for every synchronization activity on a listing. This applies to all sales channels.
- Per listing: Related > Listing Synchronization History on the CSM listing.
- All listings: search Business Central for CSM Listing Synchronization History.
Each line shows the type, timestamp and success/failure. Entry types: Base Info Sync, Attributes Sync, Availability Calc, Prices Calc, Config Children Sync, and the Send External counterparts for Base Info, Attributes, Availability, Images, Pricing and Config Children.
Note: This table grows over time. Use standard Business Central retention policies to delete old entries periodically.
Virtual Products and Gift Certificates
This applies to BigCommerce:
- Map virtual products to a supported Business Central record type (CSM listing, item, item identifier, etc.) like any other product.
- Map the gift certificate line. BigCommerce order lines for gift certificates carry the SKU
giftcertificate; map this value to a supported record type. - Shipping method. Orders containing only virtual products/gift certificates have no BigCommerce shipping method. Create a CSM shipping method with a blank Sales Channel Shipping Method and a shipping agent code such as NONE or VIRTUAL.
- Order status matrix. These orders arrive as Completed. The default matrix maps Completed with no sales order to Error. On the BigCommerce sales channel choose Related > Setup > Order Status Matrix and change the implied status for that line to New.
Not available for other platforms. Shopify gift cards are covered in CSM Sales Channels - Gift Cards.
Listing management is currently not available for Amazon and Walmart (Amazon supports price and availability updates only – see CSM Listing - Sending and Retrieving Listing Data).
