Overview
To view Planning Lines for a Lot, open a Lot Card, select the Actions Menu, and run the action "Planning Lines".
The page "Lot Planning Lines" contains two grids. The main grid lists all the Planning Lines of the lot. The detail grid shows the component Planning Lines in case the current Planning Line in the main grid is a Bundle.
Planning Line Card
Below are the necessary explanations for important fields in the Lot Planning Line:
| Field | Description |
| Progress Status |
This field has the following options:
|
| Planned Start Date | Date when the Task where the Planning Line belongs to should be started according to scheduling. |
| Planned Delivery Date | Date when the task where the Planning Line belongs to should be completed according to scheduling. |
| Date Ordered | The date when a Work Order was issued for the planning line. |
| Date Reported | The date when the Work Order issued for the Planning Line is reported by the Vendor as done. |
| Date Completed | The completion date of the Planning Line. The Planning Line can be completed individually, it can be completed because of the completion of the Work Order or the Task. |
| Purchase Document No. | The number of the latest purchase document that was posted for the Planning Line. There could be multiple purchase documents for one Planning Line. |
| Purchase Document Date | The date of the latest purchase document that was posted for the Planning Line. |
| Sales Invoice No. | The number of the Sales Invoice that was posted for upgrade or extra Planning Line. |
| Sales Invoice Date. | The document date of the sales Invoice that was posted for an Upgrade or Extra Planning Line. |
Actions
The Planning Line page has the following actions:
- Add — adds a Planning Line for a Model Item. See Add Planning Line below.
- Edit — opens the Planning Line Card for the selected line.
- Complete — marks the selected Planning Lines as completed.
- WO Card — opens the Work Order for the selected line.
- Assign Vendor Contract — changes the Vendor and Vendor Contract on the selected lines.
- Create Work Orders — creates Vendor Work Orders from the selected lines.
- Create Purchase Orders — creates Purchase Orders from the selected lines.
- Create WOs and POs — does both in a single pass.
Complete
Use this action when the work represented by the Planning Line is finished and verified.
Select one or more Planning Lines and run Complete. The Complete Planning Lines dialog opens with three fields:
| Field | Definition |
| Date Completed | Defaults to today. It cannot be left blank and it cannot be a future date. |
| Completion Confirmed | Defaults to Yes. Records that a Homebuilder employee, not just the vendor, has confirmed the work. |
| Completion No. | Optional reference for the completion. |
Press OK to apply the values to all selected lines. The Progress Status of each line changes to Completed. The completion cascades if every Planning Line of a Work Order is completed, the Work Order is completed and if every Planning Line of a Task is completed, the Task is completed.
WO Card
Opens the Vendor Work Order Card for the Work Order that the selected Planning Line belongs to. The action is only enabled when the line actually carries a Work Order No. meaning after a Work Order has been created for it.
Assign Vendor Contract
When Planning Lines are created, the Vendor No. and Vendor Contract No. come from the corresponding Model or Phase Items. This action lets you change them afterwards — for example when a second trade is brought in, or when a vendor is replaced.
Select the lines, run Assign Vendor Contract, enter Vendor No. then Contract No. in the pop-up page, and press OK.
Note
When a Vendor Contract is assigned to a Planning Line, its Unit Cost is retrieved from the corresponding Contract Revision Item. A Vendor Contract cannot be assigned if the Planning Line is already completed or already part of a Work Order.
Create Work Orders
Creates Vendor Work Orders directly from the Lot, without going through the Phase. Select the Planning Lines and run Create Work Orders. The system reports how many Work Orders were created.
Selected lines are grouped by Vendor No. and Vendor Contract No., and one Work Order is created per group. Each new Work Order is created with:
- Status = New
- Document Date = Today
- Due Date = Latest Planning Date among the lines in the group.
- Lot Code filled in only if every line in the group belongs to the same Lot. If the group spans several Lots, the Lot Code in the Work Order header is left empty.
The system validates every selected line before it creates anything, and stops on the first line that fails. A line can be turned into a Work Order only if all of the following are true:
- Phase Code, Lot Code, House Area Code, Project No. and Task No. are all filled in.
- The line is marked as Deliverable.
- The Lot is Released.
- The line is Released for Construction. This applies to all lines, and is checked again specifically for Upgrades and Extras.
- The line Type is Item.
- The Designation is Single Item or Component. Bundles and Customer Fees are not put on Work Orders, their components are.
- A Vendor No. is present, the vendor exists, and the vendor is not blocked.
- The Progress Status is Pending or Started.
- The line is not already on a Work Order.
Create Purchase Orders
Creates Purchase Orders from the selected Planning Lines. Selected lines are grouped by Phase Code and Vendor No., and one Purchase Order is created per group. The system reports how many Purchase Orders were created.
A line is skipped rather than errored when it is not eligible, specifically when:
- the line is already fully invoiced (Remaining Qty. is zero); or
- a purchase line already refers to it.
For the lines that are eligible, the system requires a Cost Detail Code on the line and requires Usage Link to be set; it stops with an explanatory error if either is missing.
Create WOs and POs
Runs both of the above in one pass over the selected lines. The system first checks that the eligible lines can be added to Purchase Orders, then creates Work Orders for the lines that are not yet on one, and finally creates the Purchase Orders. It reports both counts in a single message.
Use this when a trade is both ordered and purchased at the same moment, so the two documents are produced together and stay in step.
Add Planning Line
Normally, Planning Lines get created upon using the action "Site Model on Lot" (for "Base Contract" items) or upon releasing a Lot Selection Package (for Upgrades and Extras). However, there could be situations when a Planning Line should be added before siting for items that are neither "Base Contract" nor Upgrades or Extras. Another situation is the case when you need to add a Base Contract Item after Siting the Model on the Lot.
On the Lot Card, select the Planning Lines Action button from the Main Menu or click Planning Lines Cue from the right-hand side Infopane. This opens the Lot Planning Lines page where you select the +Add Action button. This Action opens the page "Add Planning Item" populated with Model Items of the Model assigned to the Lot that satisfy the following criteria:
- Designation is a Single Item, Bundle, or Customer Fee.
- Color Chart is set to 'No'.
In the list of Model Items, select an item (or select multiple), change "Quantity" from the default 1 (if needed), and click "Add Item".
