CSM Listings - Sending and Retrieving Data

Synchronize your Listing data from Business Central to your platform and vice versa.

This applies to Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Magento:

Sending a Listing to the Channel

  1. Open the CSM listing.
  2. Choose Actions > Send to Channel > All Data.

CSM creates (or updates) the product on the channel. The channel's product ID is returned to External ID on the Listing Status FastTab; Last External Update Result shows the outcome and any error details.

To send several listings at once, select them on the CSM Listings page and run the action from the Actions ribbon (All Data and Base Info support multi-select).

Note: These steps cover simple listings. Configurable parents and children are sent in three steps – see CSM Listing - Configurable Item Listings.

Send to Channel actions

Action Sends Platforms
All Data Base info plus descriptions, categories, images and attributes Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento
Base Info Core product fields only Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento

Images

  • WooCommerce and Magento: the image must already exist in the platform's media library. CSM sends a URL built from the channel's API Image File Path plus the image's CSM Name.
  • BigCommerce: the image file stored on the Product Information record is uploaded.
  • Shopify: see Shopify Setup - Sending Listing Images to Platform.

Pricing logic

CSM first looks for a sales price in the customer price group set in Price Group Code on the sales channel. If found, that price is sent; otherwise the item card Unit Price is used.

This applies to BigCommerce: price updates can be scheduled with PRODBASEPRICEALL (all listings on the channel) or PRODBASEPRICEUPDATE (only listings with External Requires Update enabled). Customer-group pricing is covered in CSM Listing - Pricing.

Loading Listings from the Channel

Use this when products already exist on the channel and you want CSM listings created from them.

Note: Importing is intended for initial setup. For ongoing maintenance Business Central should be the source and data should flow to the channel.

  1. Open the sales channel and choose Related > Setup Actions > Load Products From Channel.
  2. Confirm the sales channel on the Get Listings from Channel page and choose OK.

CSM creates one listing per product, sets External ID, and applies the channel's default availability settings. Configurable products become a parent listing, one child per variation, and listing attributes for the options.

  1. Open each listing and set Type, No. (and Variant Code) to link it to Business Central.

Note: Assign the channel product SKU as an Item Identifier on the Business Central item before loading and CSM links the item automatically.

Retrieving Configurable Attributes and Variants

This applies to BigCommerce and WooCommerce: for a listing with Channel Product Type Configurable and an External ID, choose Actions > Retrieve from Channel:

  • Configurable Attributes – creates CSM listing attributes on the parent from the product's options.
  • Variants – creates child listings with their option values.

This applies to Magento: use Retrieve from Channel > Child Listings.

Not available for Shopify.

Retrieving External Inventory

This applies to Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento and Amazon:

Pull the channel's on-hand quantity into CSM to compare with Business Central. The listing must have an External ID.

  • Manually: Actions > Get External Inventory Supply. The result is written to External Inventory On Hand on the Inventory Information FastTab.
  • Automatically: enable Auto Retrieve Channel Inventory on the Inventory Information FastTab; CSM automation refreshes it each run.

Not available for WooCommerce.

Listing management is currently not available for Amazon (price, availability and external inventory only) and Walmart.
